🌟 First of all, this is a must-read novel! 🌟
I rate it 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the concept and storytelling (but keep in mind this does not apply to the translation, which I’d rate 2/5 ⭐). The translation can be frustrating—you may need to guess at times what’s happening—but the novel itself is absolutely worth it.
Why I Loved This Novel 💖
- Unwavering ML:
The ML’s personality and values were consistent throughout the story, which I found refreshing. Whether he was a child, teen, or adult, his longing for freedom and hope for harmony never wavered. The author did a fantastic job weaving his character into every scene with great detail. 👏 - Powerful Emotions 😭:
- I cried twice while reading this novel:
1️⃣ When the crown prince died.
2️⃣ When the little emperor died.
Both were deeply emotional moments for the ML and equally heartbreaking for me as a reader. 💔
- I cried twice while reading this novel:
- Well-Developed Dynamics:
The interactions between the emperor, the ML, and the various princes were some of the highlights for me. Each character brought something unique to the story. - Modern Ideals in an Ancient World:
Despite being transmigrated from the modern world, the ML rejected traditional concepts like harems and actively supported the female characters whenever possible. I especially loved the line, “I gave you so much, but you were all busy fighting and killing each other.” This really encapsulates his frustrations with the world around him. 🚫👑 - Magical Extras:
The final extra chapters were a magical touch! ✨ In these, the princes and the emperor got to see their own lives, offering a unique reflective twist. The little emperor especially stood out—he was adorable with his innocent statement, “Now Ninth Uncle will only like me!” 🥰
Areas for Improvement 🤔
- Translation Issues:
The poor translation quality sometimes took away from the immersive experience. If you can overlook this, though, the story itself shines. ✨ - Gender Representation in Leadership:
Toward the end, when the daughter became emperor, it felt like every position was filled with females. While I appreciated the focus on women in power, a better balance with fusion of genders would have been ideal.
Final Thoughts 🌈
This novel made me feel like I grew alongside the ML. The focus remained on him and his journey, with other characters—including the FL—taking a secondary role. While he never wanted to be emperor, he was undoubtedly the most capable, making his rise inevitable. By the end, I found myself wondering how the other characters (the princes and emperor) would feel if they knew. The author brilliantly addressed this curiosity with those extra chapters!
📖 Forced to Ascend the Throne After Transmigrating is a gem that will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommended if you’re willing to look past the translation flaws. ❤️
